The 2025 Grammy nominations are in, as the biggest names in music are set to compete for the biggest accolades in the industry next February.
Leading the way is none other than Beyoncé with Cowboy Carter, racking up an impressive 11 nominations, including those in the three major categories – Song, Record and Album of the Year. These nominations take her career total to an astounding 99, making her the most nominated artist in Grammy history. Despite winning 32 Grammys, 29 as a solo artist and 3 with Destiny’s Child, Beyonce is yet to take home Album of the Year. Could this be the year she claims the title?
Following a banner year, Taylor Swift picked up a modest six nominations, as did Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. The three of them are up for Record of the Year, with Fortnight, Good Luck Babe! and Espresso respectively, alongside Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish, Charlie XCX’s 360 and Kendrick Lamar’s Not like Us – all of whom received an additional six nominations. To round out the category is Texas Hold ‘Em by Beyoncé, and a shock entry from the Beatles with Now and Then, which was released last year.
In terms of Album of the Year, the major surprise is André 3000 with his instrumental flute record New Blue Sun. He is up against Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, Charli’s Brat, Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol. 4 and of course Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter. Whilst it has been an undeniably stellar year for Swift, I would predict the coveted category will be between Beyoncé and possibly Charli XCX.
Finally, the Best New Artist is set to surely be a battle between Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan. However British singer Raye has also had a hugely successful 2024, having won six Brit Awards earlier in the year. A Grammy win would surely be the icing on the cake for her. They will be joined by Shaboozey, Benson Boone, Doechii, Teddy Swims and Khruangbin. Across the shores, Shenseea and Vybz Kartel have picked up their first Grammy nominations for Best Reggae Album, along with Collie Buddz for Take It Easy, Bob Marley: One Love-Music Inspired By The Film and The Wailers for Evolution.
The 67th Annual Grammy Awards airs 2 February 2025
