PARISIAN FASHION

S/S 2025 REVIEW by Sophie Bushnell

GANNI

While Paris may be uncharted territory to the Danish brand, Ganni sure does know how to make a statement. Being the first brand to show at Paris Fashion Week, and not being a Parisian brand, could be stressful but Ganni knows how to bring the fun and lighten the mood. Bringing the endless colour palettes seen in Scandinavian streetwear to brighten up the typically muted tones associated with Parisian effortless chic. The runway was filled with monotone looks, from green to blue to red, even black. But the creative play on texture is what truly stole the show. Green denim layered over green chiffon, pink leather over pink tulle which was over pink tailored trousers. The colours echoed the brand’s Scandinavian origins and the creativity surrounding texture brought us something new.

SAINT LAURENT

Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection was a striking blend of power and effortless cool. Anthony Vaccarello dove within himself to find inspiration for the Saint Laurent woman, and gifted us with a powerful playfulness and a relaxed element to her otherwise firm sense of control. The focus of this collection was tailoring, think double breasted jackets paired with wide leg suit trousers, balanced with the simplicity of a traditional shirt and tie. Trenches and bombers were casually thrown over suits, adding a relaxed touch to the commanding looks. Accessories played a crucial role, with no piece left to stand alone; chunky gold jewellery, powerful ties, and bold glasses completed each look. The Saint Laurent woman is controlled and elegant, with a laid back edge.

CHLOE

Chloé’s Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear show was a masterclass in effortless elegance, blending the house’s signature bohemian flair with a soft sexy edge. The collection emphasised a fluidity in design, with flowing silhouettes and lightweight fabrics that swayed beautifully down the runway. Florals, lace, and chiffon ruled, while soft suede jackets, bunched at the shoulders, introduced a subtle, empowered femininity. The palette was grounded in earthy tones—sandy beiges, soft olives, and muted terracotta—while splashes of baby pink were playfully contrasted by slouchy black leather bags. Kamali also paid homage to the Jane Birkin trend, with Chloé’s own take on decorated bags, adorned with delicate ribbons and charms, adding a personal touch to each look. This collection was a celebration of all things Chloe, perfectly made for the Chloe woman.

SCHIAPARELLI

While Daniel Roseberry may have only recently introduced ready-to-wear to the brand’s adventures, he shows no sign of toning down the surreal and inventive elements synonymous with his work and reminiscent of Elsa Schiaparelli’s iconic trompe l’oeil.

This collection was designed for the bold, risk taking party girl, who loves having fun with fashion. Zebra stripes and animalistic elements ran wild through this collection, while sequins and metallics created a sophisticated balance. Braided fabric cascaded from dresses, carried in the models’ hands like living extensions of the garments, adding an avant-garde flair to the runway. Daniel Roseberry knows his customer and his niche and he continues to make avant-garde fashion wearable.

VICTORIA BECKHAM

The London based brand is no newcomer to Paris Fashion Week, having nearly mastered the French art of dressing while managing to combine it effortlessly with its London roots. This collection elevated Victoria Beckham’s signature sharp tailoring and form-fitting dresses, pushing the boundaries of these traditional styles to create something fresh and exciting. From the very first look, a sheer chiffon top with a striking wet look that clung to the model’s torso, paired with relaxed tailored trousers, Beckham set the bar high and continued to push the envelope. The sheer wet look tops became the main standout of the collection, transforming into dresses as the show progressed. Traditional tailoring had a makeover with daring cut outs, slits up the legs and blazers missing an arm. Victoria Beckham, known for her simplicity and ease when it comes to sophisticated fashion, just took it up a notch and showed she knows how to have fun.
