2024 Grammys – The Best Looks from the Red Carpet

The Grammys is never one to disappoint when it comes to producing shockingly fabulous fashion moments – from Cher’s butterfly ensemble in 1974, to J.Lo’s iconic green Versace dress in 2000, the red carpet has truly seen it all. The 66th Annual Awards – which took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday night – was no exception, as countless star-studded names of the music industry sported dazzling looks from an array of high fashion houses. Below are some of the fashion highlights of the evening…

Olivia Rodrigo in Versace

The “Vampire” singer- who was nominated for six awards – stepped out in an off-white, beaded, full length gown, taken straight from the Versace archives. The dress – originally worn by Linda Evangelista during the SS95 show – features subtle, yet significant, red detailing on the bust, which complimented Rodrigo’s classic red lip and ruby earrings.

Taylor Swift in Schiaparelli

No stranger to the Grammys red carpet, Taylor Swift once again impressed in a white strapless dress by Schiaparelli, which featured a thigh-high slit, corset detailing on the back, and a dramatic train. Paired with black open-toe pumps and opera gloves, Swift sent fans into a frenzy, questioning whether the colour scheme was a hint toward the re-release of her 2017 album, Reputation. However, it was to everyone’s surprise when later in the evening she instead announced her eleventh studio album – The Tortured Poets Department – whilst collecting an award. To round out the look, she wore a custom-made vintage timepiece by Lorraine Schwartz – not around the wrist, but as a choker – alongside 300 carats of Schwartz diamonds.

Lana Del Rey in Vintage

It’s not the first time that the “Young and Beautiful” singer took to the red carpet at the Grammys in an unknown designer. Back in 2020, she made headlines upon revealing her art deco inspired dress was a last minute, $500 find at the mall. Fast forward to 2024, and Del Ry once again graced the carpet without a notable label stitched into her dress. This time, she wholeheartedly embraced the ‘coquette’ aesthetic with a vintage sheer black dress which extended to her knees and featured elegant floral detailing. In terms of accessories, she encompassed the bow trend which has taken over Tiktok, as the feminine detail featured on her stilettos, her tulle gloves, and in her hair.

John Legend in Saint Laurent

Gone are the days of men throwing on a simple black tux and calling it a day. John Legend took to the red carpet – joined by his wife, Chrissy Teigen, who was in Sophie Couture – in a sleek, modern take on a tuxedo by Saint Laurent. Whilst the classic silhouette remained largely the same, he opted for a tie-front shirt and a satin-lapel jacket, taking this look to another level.

Miley Cyrus in Maison Margiela

As no stranger to risqué fashion, it was unsurprising when the “Flowers” singer stepped out in an incredibly avant-garde ensemble by Maison Margiela. The gold metal mesh dress and matching undergarments closely resembled 90s Galliano, and contrasted the Dolly Parton inspired hair. To round out the look, Cyrus – who took home two awards – opted for sky-high stilettoes, which featured the iconic tabi split toe. The originality and pure shock-factor of this look certainly pins it as one of the top fashion moments of the evening.

Dua Lipa in Courréges

The “Dance the Night Away” singer stunned once again in a custom-made, floor-length silver gown by Courréges. The dress- which felt inspired by Joan of Arc – featured subtle side cut-outs alongside bold neckline – which provided the perfect setting for a Tiffany & Co platinum and 18k gold necklace. The showstopper featured a dazzling array of diamonds, rubellites and padparadscha and orange sapphires.

Billie Eilish in Chrome Hearts and Willy Chavarria

Billie Eilish – who took home two Grammys for “What Was I Made For” – chose to forgo traditional red-carpet attire in favour for her own personal style. The piece de resistance was undeniably the vintage Barbie varsity jacket which had been reworked by Chrome Hearts to feature satin pink sleeves and heart-shaped buttons. This was styled over classic, oversized separates by Willy Chavarria.

Ice Spice in Baby Phat

Ice Spice – who was up for four awards – wholeheartedly embraced the early 2000s aesthetic with a dark wash double denim moment by Baby Phat. The silhouette – which featured a long train and noticeable slit – had all the makings of a classic red-carpet look. However, this was met with a raw hem on the denim, playful fur details and an intentionally gaudy necklace, to produce a look which could have easily been worn over 20 years ago.

Jon Batiste in Versace

Jon Batiste took to the carpet in a three-piece suit by Versace – but not in the way you might initially imagine. His look consisted of a metallic silver jacket and trousers, which were layered with a knee-length pleated skirt, to create a modern and interesting shape. Continuing with the silver theme, he was decked out in David Yurman jewellery, and topped off the look with a Vacheron Constantin timepiece.

Gracie Abrams in Chanel

Gracie Abrams was in contention for best new artist – and whilst she may not have walked away with the Grammy, she certainly made waves on the red carpet in a Chanel two piece. Simple and sophisticated, her look consisted of a simple corset style top and matching black maxi skirt, which boasted a satin ruffled detail to add an element of texture and excitement. She debuted her new bobbed hairstyle, which was tucked behind the ears in order to show off her statement earrings which matched the singular ring on her finger.

Janelle Monáe in Armani Privé

Dramatic sequins never go out of fashion – as proven by the ‘Make Me Feel’ singer. Her custom Armani Privé was form fitting, and featured a plunging neckline that was met with rosette detailing at the waist. The dress spoke for itself, but the subtle black choker by Yeprem Jewellery rounded out the look perfectly.
